Remarks:

A group of 15 colleagues from universities in eleven European countries was working on a project on ‘Economically-dependent Workers as Part of a Decent Economy’. On the 5th and 6th May 2022, the research group on economically-dependent workers holds the final conference. It includes the presentation of the research and takes into account the further development of the law of solo self-employed persons that intends a better social protection and/or an empowerment of such workers.

Speakers from the Directorate General for Competition and from the Directorate General for Employment present the current initiatives of the European Commission: firstly, the drafted guidelines on collective bargaining for solo self-employed persons, secondly, the drafted directive on the improvement for working conditions for platform workers. Besides, the empowerment of such workers through open source legal tech is a future issue and will be illustrated on the basis of an existing tool (CLAUDETTE). Finally, there will be presentations on social security issues for small self-employed in the need for social protection and for platform workers.

I cordially invite you to join the conference. You can take part remotely via Zoom. The registration for remote participation is still open. Please register at arbeitsrecht.jura@uni-hamburg.de.
