The 7th European Labour Law Network (ELLN) Legal Seminar will take place in The Hague, the Netherlands, on 27th and 28th of November 2014. The theme of this year`s conference is "New Forms of Employment and EU Law". Fixed-term contracts, part time and temporary agency work have become features of the labour market for a long time. More recently, however, new forms of employment have been on the rise, partly due to a rapid digitalisation of the workplace. Employment relationships increasingly involve different employers. They may provide for a duty to work on a discontinuous and or intermittent basis. Networking arrangements may exist with blurred boundaries between employees and self-employed. Many of these new forms of employment challenge existing labour law systems and may also demand answers on the EU-level. It is therefore time to get a clear picture of the phenomenon, to take stock of national experiences and finally to figure out how law-makers could respond.
The Legal Seminar will be attended by academics as well as representatives of the Commission, national ministries and the social partners. Participation in the conference is by invitation only. The results of the conference will be published, however.
