Dear Friends,
Join us for a roundtable discussion on the benefits and challenges of human rights due diligence (HRDD) laws, and their impact on workers' rights.
Across the OECD, governments are enacting new laws to mandate HRDD, including the EU's proposed Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive. As these regulations evolve, it becomes crucial to assess their effectiveness in addressing the asymmetries of information and power that often exist within global supply chains between transnational business and workers.
This roundtable discussion brings together a distinguished panel of experts in worker rights, labour law, and policy including:
Heidi Hautala, Vice President of the European Parliament
The discussion will be informed by the findings of the report, "Mandatory Human Rights Due Diligence: Risks and Opportunities for Workers and Unions." This report offers valuable insights and recommends five essential principles to ensure that HRDD is institutionalised in a manner that drives meaningful change for workers in transnational supply chains.
