Publication of a new 'test' version of the Cambridge Centre for Business Research’s Labour Regulation Index (CBR-LRI) (2023) - seeking feedback

Dear LLRN colleagues

We will shortly be publishing a new version of the Cambridge Centre for Business Research’s Labour Regulation Index (CBR-LRI). This will include codings of labour laws in over 100 countries up to the end of 2022 (the previous version went up to 2013). A draft or ‘test’ version of the dataset has been published on the CBR website and can be viewed via this link: https://www.cbr.cam.ac.uk/datasets/.

We are publishing this ‘test’ version now in order to invite comments on the new codings. With such a large country and year coverage, it is possible that we have missed certain laws, or misinterpreted them. Thus we would be very grateful for feedback from the members of the LLRN network and other interested researchers ahead of finalising the dataset.

If you go to the link provided above you will find a document setting out the codings country by country. There is also an explanation of the methodology used to construct the dataset.

If you see any errors or omissions, please let us know by sending an email to: s.deakin@cbr.cam.ac.uk.

The test version will be available to review in this way until the end of June. At that point we will take on board the feedback and produce a final version of the dataset, for publication later in 2023.

Best wishes
