Remarks:

The conference is organised by several institutions specialising in interdisciplinary legal research and will be hosted by the Faculty of Law at the University of Basel (responsible: Bijan Fateh-Moghadam and Kurt Pärli). It is the 4th conference of this kind after events in Lucerne (2008), in Vienna (2011) and in Berlin (2015).

The question of "Abolishing the Law?" is at the centre of the conference. Among other things, the main theme aims at the legal significance of the shift caused by bio- and information technology, of the deformalising of law and of migration, of the increase of emergency laws and special rights, and of the strengthening of right-wing populist and authoritarian regimes.

Researchers of all disciplines are invited to present and discuss their empirical research findings and theoretical perspectives. The conference language is German, but presentations in English and French are welcome.
