Remarks:

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we are pleased to invite you to the fifth LLRN conference ‘Celebrating the 10th anniversary of LLRN scholarship’ that will be held in Warsaw, Poland on June 27-29, 2021, hosted by the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw, and co-organised in conjunction with the University of Lodz.

The year 2021 is very special to Labour Law Research Network (LLRN). This is the 10th anniversary of the founding of LLRN. Over the last 10 years, LLRN institutional members have made tremendous contributions in research, teaching, and practice, resulting in enhancing understanding of current thinking in labour law. The LLRN5 Poland conference will be the LLRN’s first conference held in the Central/Eastern Europe. We do believe that joining in the fine tradition of LLRN conferences by the members of this part of the global labour law scholarship, would constitute an invaluable opportunity to instil and consolidate the idea of a ‘boundaryless’ scientific cooperation and exchange among leading labour law scholars from all around the globe, in particular on issues such as labour law norms and institutions, new synergies, values and methodologies of contemporary labour law.

Thank you to every one who has submitted proposals for papers and panels. A large number have been received and we are looking forward to reading them. The deadline was due to be tomorrow, but I am writing to let you know that this will now be extended by a month to 15 November 2020.

The international, local and advisory committees for the LLRN5 conference have agreed that we will still aim to meet ‘face to face’ in June, but that at least some participation in that event will probably have to be virtual. The Polish organisers are currently exploring a hybrid model that will enable panels to be mixed between those who can attend in person and others who will join online. We also accept that a few panels may be online only, due to travel restrictions or other issues associated with the current pandemic.

The local organising team are confident that we can make these adjustments for some virtual participation (if need be) without raising the overall average conference costs and so we are now making plans on that basis. Further details will be supplied in the next month or so of the costs for registration in person and online, as well as for junior scholars and those in low-income countries. We will be aiming to be as inclusive as possible, sensitive to what is affordable for all labour lawyers and LLRN centres around the world.

On this basis, as said above, we are therefore extending the call for papers until 15 November 2020. This is to enable those potential participants who had not put in a proposal due to current uncertainties to do so now on the understanding that virtual participation will be possible at the LLRN5 conference.

You can still find the call for papers at: https://llrn5poland.uni.lodz.pl/call-for-papers/. Completed forms can be sent by e-mail to: llrn5poland@wpia.uni.lodz.pl.
