Affiliation: Bonvero Institute of Human Rights, Faculty of Law
Expert in: Employment, Migration governance and policy

Maayan’s research concerns trafficking for labour exploitation, the regulation of labour migration, and the rights of non-citizens. It combines legal and empirical research in order to better understand law in its social context. She is interested in the laws and policies that concern extreme forms of labour exploitation, such as forced labour, trafficking in persons, or ‘modern slavery’, and the intersection of criminal law, migration law and labour law. In her research she compares criminal law interventions that address individual criminal offences with broader migration and employment policies that result in structural coercion and exploitation.
