Age management in manufacturing: Trade union strategies across Europe and beyond

October 22; 10:00 - 15:00

A high-level event on age management in manufacturing, bringing together social partners, European institutions, civil society and researchers to shape the future of work for an ageing workforce.

As Europe’s manufacturing sector faces the dual challenge of demographic change and rapid skills transformation, ensuring that older workers are supported, valued, and empowered has never been more urgent. This event will draw on comparative research across multiple countries from the PROMISE project and the latest findings from the AGE Barometers, to spark concrete debate on how employment policies, collective bargaining, and workplace practices can better respond to the realities of an ageing workforce.

Over the course of the day, European high-level experts will discuss how to mainstream age into EU employment frameworks, strengthen sectoral social dialogue, and translate policy into meaningful change on the shop floor. Country-level examples will further illustrate the diversity of approaches and the lessons that can be shared across borders.
